Welcome to Zero Waste Nappy Library

A Zero Waste North West Initiative

Our Story so far

Launched in April 2021 with support from the National Lottery Community Fund,  the Zero Waste Nappy Library offers families & carers in the Derry City & Strabane District Council area an opportunity to explore zero waste parenting before committing to upfront costs.

With the local councils sending almost 11 million nappies per year to landfill, it has never been more important to take the leap and give cloth a try. The worst thing that can happen is a leak!

We've done our research and we trust the wisdom of the cloth community. We're part of the UK Nappy Network and we work closely with Cloth Nappy Library Ireland. These nappy gurus really know their stuff so you're in good hands! We also partner with the Northern Ireland Resources Network.

These are exciting times and the fact you've found us means you're now part of the positive change that our planet so desperately needs.

We are so excited to share our project with you!

Who we are

We are an energetic and motivated group of volunteers creating change in our community with the aim of happy, healthy people and planet.

We understand ourselves to be a local manifestation of the global climate change movement with a particular focus on ending the ‘waste generation crisis‘.

Your nappy library co-ordinator is Caroline McGuinness-Brooks, who works alongside volunteers to store, wash and manage things behind the scenes at ‘Nappy Headquarters’ .
